Chronic Stress: Heart Attack Risk 43%
2026-09-22 · #Kesehatan
A UK study of almost 480,000 adults showed that individuals with the highest chronic inflammation—measured by the blood marker GlycA—had a 43 % higher risk of heart attack and stroke compared to those with the lowest levels. The same group exhibited subtle cardiac changes, such as thicker walls, smaller chambers, and poorer filling, which can develop years before any symptoms appear.
The findings highlight the importance of managing stress, smoking, and weight to mitigate cardiovascular risk. However, the observational design does not prove causation, and further research is needed to confirm whether lowering inflammation can actually prevent heart events.
